Re: Richard Moss

Hi Astwood

Do you know when he married and who to?

There was a Richard Moss baptised on 11th January 1807 son of John and Bettey Moss in Gorton, Lancashire.

Re: Richard Moss

Hi Astwood

Civil registration began on the 1st July 1837. Was the 1837 marriage before or after 1st July because if it was after then it should have his fathers name and occupation.

Re: Richard Moss

Hi Astwood

Here is a list of other people (males) with the surname Moss born in Stockport around the same time span as Richard alive in the 1851 census.

Isaac Moss born abt 1793 Stockport, Cheshire, Head Stockport, Cheshire, a Sand Dealer. Husband of Sarah.

James Moss born abt 1798 Stockport, Cheshire, Visitor, Hadfield, Derbyshire, a printer.

Isaac and James may be brothers of Richard??

Re: Richard Moss

Hi Astwood

Have you checked the actual baptisms for St Mary, Stockport as the IGI has Moss baptisms that only go up to 1805. It is likely that post 1805 baptisms havent been transcribed yet. There were a few Moss baptisms in Stockport 1790-1805 and the parents of them were Samuel and Sarah and Isaac and his wife (Cant remember firstname)

Here is the link to thew Hugh Wallis site. Scroll down to Stockport, click on the dates for St Mary that say 1792-1802 then a new page will come up saying "Specify your search criteria" then type Moss in the icon at the top of the screen and click on Submit Search then the Moss baptisms 1792-1805 should appear.

Re: Richard Moss

Hi Astwood

So you have checked all baptisms yourself for after 1805 and still cannot find Richard Moss's baptism there?
