It's easy to get confused, hahaha

There is no mention of children on the marriage certificate of Rebecca and Thomas Ryan

She was a 29yr old spinster from NSW, parents Edward Oldfield and Margaret Hannan

Re: Coral Brenda GODFREY

I'd say more likely to be the place Braidwood than a family name.

Re: Coral Brenda GODFREY

Rebecca from what i can see had no connection to the place Braidwood to add that to her son's name. I think there is something to do with a Bell in Braidwood. BUT i could be wrong

It's all to do with BELL...

WEB or EWB called his son from second marriage to Isabel Westlake, Raymond BRAIDWOOD BELL

Re: Coral Brenda GODFREY

I wonder if he had any clue who his father was given the variations we have for his name.

No, I don't think so

My recently discovered 2nd cousin...grandaughter of Isabel and WEB/EWB, had no idea that he had another family beforehand.

His daughter, who is in her 80's now was upset to find out, especially as her half-siblings have all passed away

They only knew him as William Edward

The Sydney Morning Herald (NSW : 1842 - 1954)
Saturday 7 July 1906

At St. Kolran's Church, Redfern, on Sat- urday. the 2fird June, the Rev. Father Bnttlo solomnlsod tho mai-rlago of Miss Gladys May Hngon, only daughtor of tho lato Mr. F H. Hngon, Sydney, with Mr. Win. Ed. Braidwood Bell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Boll, of Auburn. The bride wore n hnndsomo dress of cream silk, with a wreath nnd veil, and carried a showor bouquet. She also woro a diamond ring and poid bracelet, tho gifts of the bride- groom. The bridesmaids wore Miss E. Rvan Miss K. Flvnn. and Miss M. Flynn. Mr. Rich- ard Flynn actod as best man. After tho co rcniony the wedding party drove to the Grange. Newtown, tho homo of tua brldo's mothor. where breakfast was served.

How can he be the son of Mr and Mrs Bell of Auburn in 1906 when he mother married oldfield in 1885 And it appears by Rebecca's marriage cert. she was spinster in 1885 when she married so she never married a Bell I think i said on another thread that i wondered if Rebecca was his mother or maybe had fostered him, im beginning to wonder that again.
Does that make sense of am i getting all confused now
