On the 28th September, at her residence, Lower Tooting, Surrey, England, Mrs. Sarah Penfold, in her 91st year. Grandmother of Mr. E. T. Penfold, George street.

I'd like a look up please for Sarah in 1861, 1851 and 1841.

William is Sarah's son and E.T. is Edwin Thomas the grandson:

Thanks Barbara.

I looked at possible marriages and deaths and found 6 possible - William, Moses, Walter, George, Francis and James.

So now I know it's William.

Thanks to that death notice in an Australian newspaper I've gone back one more generation. Not a direct line though. Just another connected to my FURNERs.

The marriage is not obvious. I might have to rely on the niece helping me.

Can't find the DYER marriage or a baptism for Mary abt 1811.

Mary could be a daughter-in-law.

Dyer is such a common name too.

Yes, you are right about the niece. Does not look like Penfold side after searching.

Looks as though I can say the parents are William & Sarah and that's about all. No maiden name, no marriage and no baptism for either.
