MR ROBERT BRYANT
The death occurred last week of j Mr Robert Bryant, an old and es-
teemed resident, the funeral tak-! ing place from the residence of his daughter-in-law. Mrs F. Bryant, Charles and Spike Streets, with whom he had resided for 18 years. A career identified with public and other works in Eng- land and Queensland-he spent about half the period of a lifetime in this State-closed in his 93rd
year
Bom at Caterham, Surrey. Eng- land, he migrated with his wife and family of 9even, four sons and three daughters, to Australia in 1896. landing in Brisbane. He moved to Roma, but spent only a few months there, when he ac- cepted a position as draughtsman in the employ of the Mt Morgan Gold Mining Co., preparing spe- cial plans. man in the service of a well known firm of builders and contractors. He remained with the company for ' ll months. Then for about five
years ho was engaged in super; vision and other work for the Quconslnnd Government, including work on the Alexandra Bridge af Rockhampton. Relinquishing this position he was in a hotel business in Boma for several years, a cen- tre where a brother, Mr E. Bryant, who passed away last year, had carried on a business for half-a century. Subsequently the de- ceased returned to Rockhamptoi and for nine years was a draughts- man in the service of the CQME

Early in life the late Robert Bryant was a cricket enthusiast and had played for Surrey in the same team as the famous W. G. Grace. To some extent he main- tained his interest in cricket when he came to Queensland and played for the Alhambra Cricket Club. Mt Morgan, and was presented with a silver medal in 1897 for the highest batting average. A tenor singer above the average, he had been a member of the West- minster Choir, also St Paul's Ca- thedral Choir, Rockhampton, and a Mt Morgan choir.
The deceased's wife predeceased him by 30 years. Two sons. Ri- chard Hosgood and Robert Joseph, also predeceased him. He is sur- vived by two sons, Alfred Bryant (assayer in the employ of the Main Roads Commission) and John ' McDonald (Brisbane), and there ! daughters, Mrs K- M. Phillips
(Brisbane), Mrs A. D. Dodge (Du- lulu) and Mrs J. Williamson (Limestone Cr, also a numbei of grandchildren and great grand- children. DEATH OF STOCK AGENT
The death has occurred at Roma of Mr. Richard Bryant, at the age of 79 years. For many years associated with the firm of Brvant
and McLean, stock and station agents, he retired from active business in 1935. The late Mr. Bryant was a member of the Oddfellows' Lodge, and a past master of Raphael Masonic Lodge. He . was twice married, and is survived by his widow, ten sons and two daughFix this text ters.
Searching for Robert & Martha should include some of the children, eg Richard H. who died in 1903 in Roma. I've not tried to trace all the children in Qld.

The BRYANT side of this family might be easy but the SNELLING side is far from.
Robert married a SNELLING born in Wales but Robert's mother was a SNELLING born in Surrey.
One of Robert's sons has a middle name Hosegood. And yes another SNELLING married William HOSEGOOD so there has to be a connection between them. I don't know yet if Robert married a cousin.
