Lindsay - Mr George J

George John Lindsay was a chemist and supplier of photographic equipment and services. His business was located in Dundee. Suda, Newton Park, Wormit was evidently his home for a number of years, but the links to Hill Crescent, Wormit continued. He died on 1 June 1964 at 9.30am, aged 82. His parents are said to be George James Lindsay and Margaret Ann Lindsay, maiden surname Nicoll

In 1881, George would have been abt 2yrs old - would anyone be able to look up censuses for then and later please?

No, definitely not Dave.

The Lindsays had connections in Suda, Crete, Greece (there is a Lindsay House there) - so it would only be Scotland, Greece, or at a pinch America. Georges son Archibald DID come to Australia and had some children here, but he was the only Lindsay to do so.

Archie was born in 1911, but again I dont know if in Scotland or Greece. A female Greek was adopted by James Lindsay and took the Lindsay name - beyond that I know nothing.

Thanks Dave - I will keep it on board. I'm rather thinking tho, that they came from around the Fife area, I've no idea how far that is from Renf or Glasgow. They do exist somewhere - but joining them up to Archibald b 1911 is proving to be rather difficult. There is a James Lindsay also, brother of younger George.
