Frain/Wilson Look up please

I am so very confused.

I understand that on the 1901 census, Hugh Frain is listed as being HoH in Baker St. Leigh. Also listed is Isabella Wilson, aged 15 as his sister. I am not sure how she can be.

I see she is listed in the 1891 census aged 5 and the 1911 census aged 25 but I have no idea of where she lived or who with. I am also intrigued as to who her parents are? She was born in 1886, listed as Factory Yard, Leigh.

As far as Hugh Frain is concerned (he is the one that I was researching), I am at a loss of where he was born, his parents, brothers or sisters names etc.

I know he came from Sligo and was born in 1869 (he is my gr,grandfather). He left my gr,grandmother around 1904 and arrived on Ellis Island 1/5/1905 and was headed to stay with his sister, listed as Miss Frain!! He applied for american citizenship in 1919 which was granted. From there on it gets confusing.

Any help, or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I'll check with the other stuff in a moment but why can she not be? she might well be from a first marriage.

ok I dont seem to have access to passinger lists or passport applications which might give parents details. Sorry I'm not much help its not long since I got back into this myself.

Hi,
Thank you so very much Dave, there is such a lot of information for me to absorb there.

So I was barking up the wrong tree thinking that Isabella was Hugh Frain's sister as it would appear that she is Winifred's sister, or half-sister (I have not quite got my head around it yet)!

I had not even embarked on going down the Kelly side but you have opened that line up for me very nicely.....thank you.

I have a feeling that Hugh Frain is going to be a mystery for me. Winifred never heard a word from him until she got a letter from America saying that he had died and did she want his body back. Her reply was - let whoever has been keeping him bury him!! Sadly, I have no idea where this letter came from and all the relevant people to ask are now gone.

Hi Dave,
As I understood it, Hugh Frain married Winifred Kelly and Annie, Maggie, John T and James were their children. I am not sure where FRAIN, W Single F 1871 Leigh fits into this equation?
