Here's a real mystery

Eric Roslyn Moon B1891 Waterloo Sydney, married Belle Eliza Dunne 1915
and had 2 kids.

Family folklore says he visited his adult son one day, gave him his watch said goodbye as if there were no problems, and just vanished never to be seen again by his family.

I haven't found his death anywhere and the family is still wondering what happened to him.

Maybe he went O'seas or was done away with?, or suicided in some very remote place in Ozland wouldn't be surprised what some of these Moons got up to.

Maybe someone else can find a death certificate for him or passenger list to gods knows where.

Last known trace of him i can find is 1943 E/R

Re: Here's a real mystery

I havent found him but got some gossip for you. He married in 1915 and that is the same year that he got into trouble for lying about his age to a Rev. Maybe he lied about his age to get married??

Sydney Morning Herald
Friday 22 October 1915

A False Statement

Eric Rosyln Moon, 19 pleaded guilty to a charge of having made, on oath, before Rev. A E Forbes, at Canterbury, on May 29, a statement that he had attained the age of 21 years. He was bound over on his own recongnisance in £10 to appear for sentence if and when called upon to do so.

Thanks Gibbo, I'd love to crack this nut as it has me intrigued.

By the way he was only 19 when he got married without parents consent.

I have also found him in more E/R but no death anywhere.

I think if we can find when his wife died, it could be a pointer,
maybe he run out on her with a younger woman, as his wife was a bit older than him, and it appears she brought a son from a previous relationship into the Marriage.

Thanks Gibbo, I think the trick now is to see if he died and was buried somewhere in OZ and i will ask old family member if they can remember what year he dissapeared.

I wonder if Belle's death cert. would give anything up such as whether husband is deceased or not and would be interesting to see who the informant of death was for her. Just a thought.

I Think you would do a better job on reseaching Belles death certificate as to informant than me with my limited research skills.

I notice Belle and Richard both on 1954 E/R and none further on for either,
now if Belle died 1964 shouldn't here be at least another E/R for Belle.

Hi oz,
You would have to order Belle's death cert. to get the info from it such as informant etc.
The E/R only go to 1954 online so they still could have been there after that year.
I still cant find anything on your Eric as yet.
