Seeking information on Margaret Allan, b. about 1860, probably near Cockermouth, Cumberland, UK. Had 3 children, Elizabeth May, b. 1881, Margaret, b. 1883, Edwin aka Robert, b. 1887. All children born at Elbemton. Margaret and Robert immigrated to Canada prior to WW1.

Is Allan Margarets married name or maiden name?

I believe Allan was the maiden name, have no information on husband until possibly 1997 marriage to John James, farmer from Calbeck.

Hi,
I have found a Margaret Allan age 1 on the 1861 Census in Cumberland. Unfortunately I can't find the family in later Censuses although I have only looked under the spelling Allan.

Thanks for the list of names, but not sure if that in the Allan family I seek. I do not think there is an Irish or Scottish connection. Allan was the spelling of Margaret and her 3 children but errors could occur. Allen was another common spelling.
