Re: C for CURTIS

Hi Dave

(another one not using his middle name)

1930 N.S.W Electoral Roll – South Sydney – Randwick East
CURTIS Leonard, 37 Byron street, clerk
CURTIS Winifred Mary, 37 Byron street, home duties

1936 N.S.W Electoral Roll – Watson – Randwick East
CURTIS Leonard, Bon Accord, Albert street, clerk
Curtis Winifred Mary, Bon Accord, Albert street, home duties

There is only one Leonard Arthur CURTIS on his own in 1936 North Sydney.

I'll first start at 1932 Sands Directory we have these three, who do we rule out here.

CURTIS L. A. J.P land mining engineering surveyor, 14 Castlereagh st, p.r. Albyn rd, Strathfield
CURTIS L. 480 Chapel st, Bankstown
CURTIS L. 37 Byron st, Coogee

cheers

Re: C for CURTIS

Hello crankypants,

Thank you very much. Yes, it does make it much harder when the middle name is not included.

I'd say the Ryerson death is a son and that he is the one in North Sydney in 1936 since he was 'late of Willoughby'. Does that one say 'surveyor'? I think we can rule out the Bankstown one. The Byron St Coogee one matches the father in 1930.

Regards,

Dave

Re: C for CURTIS

Hello crankypants,

Thank you very much. Isobel & Phyllis are two of their three daughters. The other was Marion Violet.

I don't know Alexander's parents or siblings, that's why I said it might get tricky. It looks as though that birth reg is for a different Alexander. So, from the listing I presume his parents are William (storekeeper) & Mina (domestic duties).

This can't be the one because it's too late:

1892/C4869 Cunningham Mina Alice - John Charles Annie Elizabeth Swindley

And, this can't be the marriage because it's too late:

1887/B11924 Hunter Elizabeth Jemima Cunningham William

The service record looks as if it is for my Alexander with the 'c/- Clifton, Qld.' so he was born before 1882 but where?

Regards,

Dave

Re: C for CURTIS

Hello crankypants,

Gladsmuir is a village and parish in East Lothian

We have to look there I think for the births.

Dave
