Couldnt find them in Scotland in 1861 but looks like then on the 1861 English census.

Hello Julie,

Thank you very much. Interesting. My father thought Thomas (the son) was born in Belfast but I doubted that when I found his parent's marriage in Renfrew. Actually it's his father who was born in Ireland, so I'd say it is the correct family even though I have no knowledge of his siblings. As far as I know, Thomas (my great grandfather) was the only one to come to Australia.

Please see if you can find the family in 1871.

or do we have two families? Archibald Mar Q 1861 and Mary Jane Sep Q 1861

Please see if you can find Mary and Isabella BLACKLEY in Scotland before 1881. I can't see them in 1841.

Oh, this will take some sorting out. There has to be two families. There is a death two years before the 1852 marriage in Paisley:

Form the 1861 and 1871 census it appears Thomas' spouse Janet died in that period but it can't be this one:

because Jessie's birth was registered in Sep Q 1864 ??

Looks as though I'll have to get a copy of this marriage:
