Re: Stephen PERDRIAU b. 1811 Portsea

Hi Dave,

This is a challenge I can find no PERDRIAU in the british 1841 or 1851 censuses. I tried varying the spellings as well.

the only 19th centry references are to two slave owners in the colonial records in St Christopher Geo Perdiau and W Perdiau

There are a couple of incoming passengers from australia in the early 20th century and a marriage in suffolk

Any other clues?

Re: Stephen PERDRIAU b. 1811 Portsea

Hello dochines,

Thanks for looking. The family were Huguenots from la Rochelle. They left in 1600s and ended up in New York, then slave owners in Santee, South Carolina, then St Anne's Sandy Point, St Kitts where yet another Stephen (one in every one of 8 generations) was born in 1768. He joined the RN and was servant to Horatio NELSON. Stephen died in Southwark in 1820 and this query is for his son.

Two of the other sons ended up in the service in India and the youngest son ended up in Australia.

I have not yet tried to trace the American part of the family tree. Those born in Hampshire in 1800s have proved difficult enough.

Regards,

Dave

Hello cp,

Thank you very much. I didn't think even allowing for all the Weird variations we have seen in transcriptions that you'd have any luck.

Regards,

Dave

Also if Mary J PERDRIAN (variations PERDRAIN, PERDRION, PERDRIN) can be found. Thanks.

Dave

Re: Stephen PERDRIAU b. 1811 Portsea

Hello,

It seems to be Harriet in 1881 back to the name CRISP and if so this is a possible death for her:

Deaths Dec 1907
CRISP Harriet 81 Aston 6d 252

Either way that means there is a Harriet CRISP who should be in the England census in 1901 and 1891, probably in Warwickshire. Just hope it is one born abt 1827 in Shropshire.

Thanks.

Regards,

Dave
