William Henry in Liverpool

Hi there,

I can't find a census entry for a William Henry (born in Manilla, around 1825 or sometimes recorded as 1831), and an Ann Henry (born about 1825 in Ireland). They should be in Liverpool at this time I think, since their son John Saviour Henry was born there in 1861. He may or may not be on census as he died the same year.

Thank you so much as always.

Can't find William or Ann but their son would not have appeared in the 1861 Census, which was taken in April of that year, as his birth wasn't registered until the September.

Re: William Henry in Liverpool

If this is their marriage it puts them in Liverpool in 1860..

William Henry
Marital Status: Single
Marriage Date: 16 Aug 1860
Place: Liverpool
Father: John Henry
Spouse: Ann King
Spouses father = Thomas King.

Also on FreeBMD

Mother's maiden name, King is on Keppella/Rayella/Rappella's bap.

Can see them in 1871/81 not 1861 yet..

Re: William Henry in Liverpool

UK, City and County Directories, 1766 - 1946
Will Henry
Publication Year: 1869
Address: 14 Frederick St calletb Mary Springfield St Old Swan [sic]
Residence Place: Lancashire, England
Occupation: Ain
[The image only has Henry, William. 14 Frederick St.]

Some of the transcription refers to the entry below William Henry.

Frederick St. fits with 1871/81.

Re: William Henry in Liverpool

The marriage in 1860 is on Lancs opc site and the entry provides a few more details. The couple were both living in Gilbert Street. William was a Ships Steward and his father John was a Cigar Manufacturer. Ann's father Thomas was a Farmer.

I wasn't sure if this was the right marriage. There is another marriage in Liverpool just two days earlier on 14th Aug, oddly for a William Henry and Ann King. I'm not sure which is the right one, but wondered if the 1861 census entry might help clarify.

Re: William Henry in Liverpool

I can only find one marriage for William Henry and Ann King. I think the one on fs dated 14th is a mistranscription, possibly from the BTs rather than the Parish Register. Lancs opc, FreeBMD and UKBMD only have one marriage.

Interesting William being a ship's steward... he may have been at sea in 1861..

Re: William Henry in Liverpool

That was my thought as well. However it doesn't explain why I can't find Ann though.
