Re: Ann smith

The only one I can find with the correct age is

Ann Smith Mar 1889 Hackney 1b 366 age 65

However, knowing how the informant does not always give the correct age at death there are, unfortunately, several other possibilities.

Re: Ann smith

Elmtree, that will be right ,as her husband has the same age ,and kept it all through the census until Henry put b1823 in the 1891 census.

Edit-
Christ Church,
Gore Road,
South Hackney
Middlesex

Seems to be the only one in South Hackney ?
Not good with London

Thanks Elmtree.

Re: Ann smith

3 Cemeteries
•St James (later St Paul), Stoke Newington Road, West Hackney, Church of England
•St John at Hackney [St John the Baptist, formerly St Augusti, Mare Street, Church of England
•St John of Jerusalem, [Lauriston Road ] King Edward Road, South Hackney, Church of England

St James is knocked out as being West Hackney.
St John of Jerusalem seems promising.

Ellie

Edit That's near Well St. Common 1881 they were in Well St.

Re: Ann smith

Don't forget Brookwood Cemetery, as it may be another possibility.

Re: Ann smith

Presuming that Henry died before the 1901 Census, as you don't mention it, I've looked for a death in Stepney but nothing came up. However there are two possibles in Hackney

Aged 74 Mar1897 Hackney 1b 313

Aged 75 June 1900 Hackney 1b 312

O f course from a lodging house in Stepney he could have gone anywhere.

Re: Ann smith

I've came up with this one.

Name
Henry Smith

Estimated Birth Year
abt 1823

Registration Year
1891

Registration Quarter
Jul-Aug-Sep
Age at Death68
Registration district Mile End Old Town
Inferred County London
Volume1c
Page303

1891 Census he had changed his birth from 1824 to 1823 and was boarding in Mile End, Old Town.

Would still like a burial. That's what I'm doing at the moment.

Re: Ann smith

I've tried the various sites that I know of but can't see anything. If you do find them, I'd be interested to know which site it was, for future refernce, as my knowledge of good sites for London is very limited.
