I think that should be ALLEN.

DEATH OF MRS ALLEN
On 6th inst Mrs Bethiah Allen, a very old resident of Glenbrook, passed away at her residence, ''Koondroo," Moore Street, in her 93rd year.
She was the widow of the late James Allen, of Camden, who predeceased her 48 years ago.
She leaves two sons and six daughters. One daughter (Edith) predeceased her.
Deceased came of an old Australian family, her grandfather being James Squire of Ryde. Her mother was an Australian born, her maiden name being Sarah Squire, of Ryde. She married Charles Baterson Turtle, of England.

Deceased was born in Sydney, and educated at Christ Church School. She was present at the laying of the foundation stone of St. Andrew's Cathedral and the turning of the sod of the first railway. She was reminiscent of early days.

SMH - Tues 13 March 1883
ALLEN - March 10 at his residence Camden, James Allen the beloved husband of Bettuah Allen, aged 47, leaving a sorrowful wife and nine children to mourn their loss.

By special license at the Wesleyan Chapel Newtown on the 6th instant by Rev Benjamin Chapman, James Allen eldest son of Mr James Allen of Newtown to Miss Bithiah Turtle, youngest daughter of Mr Charles Turtle (Late of Redfern).

One of Bethiah's siblings..
SMH Tues 16 Dec 1856 - Marriage
By special license on the 11th instant at All Saint's Church Parramatta by the Rev W.F. Gore, George youngest son of Mr Charles Turtle Redfern to Priscilla, eldest daughter of the late Mr John Goodin of Ryde.

TURTLE - Kingston Sarah, relict of the late Charles Turtle, aged 83 years.
SMH - Sat 26 May 1877
TURTLE. — At the residence of her son Mr C.Turtle, (Kingston), Sarah, relict of the late Charles Turtle, and daughter of the late James Squire, Esq., Kissing Point, and mother of Messrs. T. and G. Turtle, and Mrs. J. Lavett and Mrs. J. Allen.

SMH Sat 5 June 1886
TURTLE - At his residence Marrickville 6th June 1871, Charles Batterson Turtle, copper-plate printer born in London 31st January 1795, baptised St Ann's Church, educated Blue Coat School St Paul's London, leaving a widow, three sons and two daughters. London Papers please copy. Inserted by his eldest daughter M Lavett.

Occupation 'Sawyer' must be a transcription error from the church register to the form sent to the Registrar General. The father of the next child baptised was a sawyer.

Can't find a Turtle - Batterson marriage.
