Re: Law of Entail in England late 1770's-early 1780's?
If they were Quakers there might be another problem regarding inheriting as early Quaker marriages were not recognised by the state and all their property on their death was seized by the Crown.
Re: Law of Entail in England late 1770's-early 1780's?
Thank you, I do not have any reason to believe that Henry was a Quaker.
Henry, records have indicated may have been a member of the United Baptist Society, in Colrain, Massachusetts, USA.
Thomas Rogers, Henry's first son, died in 1818/19, in Ohio, Usa, and his wife a year later, leaving 5 orphaned children, Ansel being one of them. It is family history that Ansel found his way to Cohocton, Steuben, county, New York, from Ohio around the age of 12. Henry, was then living with his third oldest son George, next to Henry's youngest child Tryphena Raymond, who did marry a man who was Quaker, and her husband's brother, Alva, took Ansel in and sent Ansel to Presbytarian school, but after Ansel had visited with his aunt's husband, Roswell, Ansel decided to become a Quaker and thus studied to become a Quaker minister. Ansel was a Quaker Minister in Raisin Valley, Michigan Usa, around 1830-1850's.
Ansel may have been the one who contacted this Joseph Seebohm, he being a Quaker also, however, I do not know why or how Joseph would have any knowledge, or why he would of been choosen to look for information on the estate in Birmingham? My only guess would be that, my family information states that someone(s) may have tried at sometime to go to England and claim this estate or what was left of it Thus needing someone, (like myself), to help them in obtaining information and or to get records, ect?? and maybe Joseph, volunteered, and was able to help in someone way??

Hello guys I am Janae. I can feel very comfortable in this platform. I am very crazy about the rule of law and its enforcement. I live in USA and very much comfortable with our english laws. Law of Entail in England late 1770's early 1780's is only for the welfare of the people.

I've been looking into the Henry Rogers/Warden story and it does seem to be a bit confused when you get back to Henry.
I have looked for a Henry Warden/Worden baptised in Birmingham and can find no record so where does 20th December 1739 come from? Also he has a birth year in family trees that alternates between 1739 and 1741.
Joseph Seebohn I imagine is from the Steel magnate family in Birmingham.
What do you know about Henry Rodgers, ie occupation marriage death. That is what do you know about him that has documents to back it up?
I have had problems myself when looking up histories of family members who have links to a prominent American descendant and some very strange details can be found such as people being baptised in 2 different continents within 2 days of each others and I have had one where he appears to have married his grandmother.
So basically we start with the known and try to establish a connection.
I can't find any chancery records that fit.
There is a mention of a Warden who married a Rogers and there being a dispute about the mother's inheritance (She was Rogers) but this was not anywhere near Birmingham or Warwickshire but in Devon I think.
Also if this is the same Henry Rogers. One account said he came from a family who came over on the Mayflower which would make him a whole lot earlier.
Another puts him as a sea-faring captain. Not a usual career for someone from landlocked Birmingham.
Re: Law of Entail in England late 1770's-early 1780's?
Ansel Rogers grandson of Henry was apparently a Quaker.
Re still searching in England. The only Henry Worden I have found was an apprentice in 1715 in Sollihull.
Have looked up Probate records and can't find anything that helps. Tried looking for a Tryphena Worden/Warden but think grandmother may have been Betsy or Elizabeth anyway.
My thought is that if Ansel was a quaker that would be why Seebohn wrote about Henry. Or else they were related?
Think I will try and find out more about Seebohn too.
