Margaret Robson

My Gt Grandfather Matthew Dunn born 1852 he was a wallpaper paintor and manufacturer in Newcastle Upon Tyne, and worked in the family business. Matthew married Margaret Robson and they had 3 children John, Mary Isabella and Amy. They lived at 44 Bath Lane Terrace, Newcastle Upon Tyne in 1881, not sure where they went after that.

I would like to know Margaret's parents as I am not sure, she may have been born in Wark or Newcastle Upon Tyne c1854. They got married in 1876 in Newcastle Upon Tyne. Any help with Margaret's family would be appreciated.

The daughters lived with their grandfather John H Dunn in Wark in 1901, I don't know who they married or where they lived after that any help with this would be great.

Thanks

Re: Margaret Robson

Hello Jkd,

This one spoke to me.

Births Mar 1856
ROBSON Margaret Isabella Bellingham 10b 237

A common name in the area so there are other possible ones including some as Margaret Ann.

Do you have a copy of the marriage? If yes, then I take it parents are not listed. They may or may not be if you don't have a copy.

Do you have a copy of any of the children's birth certificates? Again they may or may not show a middle name if Margaret was in the habit of not using it.

Any indication in census listings with her listed as Margaret I or Margaret A?

Regards,

Dave

Re: Margaret Robson

Thanks dave.

Not a very tight range for Margaret's age. Makes it much harder with Newcastle as well.

Re: Margaret Robson

Hi

In 1901 Mary and Amy are, as you say, living with John Dunn 72 Widower, their Grandfather, and his un married sister Margaret 80, and his widowed brother Joseph 75. The three elders are all born Wark, a small village in Northumberland, about 20/25 miles from Newcastle, just on the edge of the massive Wark forrest.

Re: Margaret Robson

Hello dave,

Wark is in:

BELLINGHAM REGISTRATION DISTRICT

Registration County : Northumberland.
Created : 1.7.1837.
Abolished : 1.1.1937 (incorporated into Northumberland West registration district).

Wark - Northumberland 1837 -1936.

But it may not be the right reg for Margaret.

Regards,

Dave

Re: Margaret Robson

what does a tree on A mean?

I don't have a copy of the marriage certificate nor any of the children's birth certificates.

I have a copy of the sons marriage and death certificates, the marriage certificate only gives the fathers name and occupation as Paper Maker.

I would like to know more about Margaret's family. I don't know if she was born in Newcastle or in Wark, Bellingham, I realise the census states newcastle but they are not always accurate and often vary. Robson is such a common name in Newcastle it is difficult to narrow it down.

The help all of you have given is great and any further help would be appreciated. I might have to order one of the certificates.

Thanks Jan

Re: Margaret Robson

I can see lots of baptisms for a Margaret around 1855 but none with parents John & Ann.
