John Todd Cumberland

Another Cumberland dead end.

John Todd married Eleanor Jameson 1775 in St Bees. Eleanor was born c1753.

Can anyone find a birth/baptism for John Todd c 1750

Thanks

Emeltee

Re: John Todd Cumberland

This looks interesting:

Name: Jane Todd
Father: Alexander Todd
Mother: Katharine
Baptism Date: 23 Apr 1748
Baptism Place: Cumberland, England
Denomination: Independent
Piece Title: Cockermouth Chapel

Could John be a non conformist??

Re: John Todd Cumberland

If John was baptised nonconformist then he didn't carry it through to his children as they were baptised C of E.

Thanks for looking,

Emeltee

Re: John Todd Cumberland

That does happen, my Huguenots started using the Anglican church within a couple of generations after arriving here, despite having their own churches.

I have another line in Wiltshire who began as Quakers. I don't have any Quakers in the family now.
