It is hard when you have no father on Birth Cert. and at that time there was no welfare state .Mary would be trying her hardest to remarry as life was very tough at that time. Have you tried poor relief records ,not that it would give Elizabeth's fathers name.

I know of a man in my part of the country born 1940's still hunting for his father who was stationed a few miles away. He at least has a name . Also a relation who new her Fathers name and we finally found a photo for her in 2003's when a reunion was held locally and we found a photo of him. She found out she has a half Brother and Sister. Sad times .
