Re: Paley Family

Hi Barbara,
Thank you for your reply. I have looked for other paley's in each of the areas where they lived, but have never found another one that could perhaps be a relative of his.

HI first child was born in 18 in 1856 in Manhattan. So I suspect that john and jane were married sometime in the 1850's, but I can't find them in any census for that time period either. I found the episcopal church where one of the kids was baptized. I reached out to that church on several occasions to see if they had any further info or possibly a marriage for them, but I never get a reply.

From what I can tell Jane's family came from the Belfast/county down/antrim area. Her parents were James Carlisle and Phoebe Norwood. That's another line I can't get back much further.

Thanks again so much for your help. I really do appreciate it!
Jennifer

Hi, Thank you for your reply. David Norwood was Jane's uncle, Phoebe's brother. She was then moved to the plot of her daughter Elizabeth McNaughton. Thanks again for the help!!1

Louis N Paley was informant on brother John Paley b 1862 b NY (age 53 yrs when he died 23 Oct 1915) which has father John Paley b Ireland & mother Jane Carlisle b Scotland

Elizabeth W Paley b 1853 NY – 29 Aug 1927 Albany - married William McNaughton btw 1875 & 1879

How confusing can this family be…. 1900 US census for Elizabeth McNaughton nee Paley has her born NY and father born Canada & Mum b Ireland and Elizabeth married in 1877
HI, Thanks again---I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks this family is confusing--LOL.

There seem to be a few John Paleys with various spellings but nothing concrete

Thank you --I had not come across these naturalization records. I have some others, but I have no idea if it is him or not. The others that I have found have no other paley's onboard so hard to make a connection.

Re: Paley Family

You seem to have been very thorough, Jen.

Have you got marriages for all the kids, sometimes there is further information on those.

Hi Barbara,
I have only found my great grandfather louis norwood paleys 2nd marriage. the other thing that baffles me is that I never get any leaf hints on ancestry for this line. And I never find other people researching this line---the few I have found have taken info from my tree so no new info or leads. Its so strange.
Thanks again

Re: Paley Family

Ah yes, i have a line like that and only now (prob after 30 years researching) through dna am I finding matches with them.

Think doing the wider family might be the best idea then, concentrate on the kids and what happened to them if you can?

One of them might throw up a clue somewhere to get you going.
