Unassisted to Vic.
Age 22 Fiche 37 APR ENG Page 3 B EMIGRANT 1853 BROWN, SAMUEL

Age 21 Fiche 37 APR ENG Page 3 B EMIGRANT 1853 BROWN, EMMA

arrival: Emigrant
Origin: London 1853 Jan 27
Destination: Melbourne 1853 Apr 30
Date Item Details Source
background 22 passengers

That is 22 in the cabin

The Emigrant, a large & handsome new vessel, left the south docks, Sunderland, for Port Phillip, in Australia. She takes out 147 passengers, 116 adults & 31 children. The principle portion of the passengers are persons in the middle class of life, who with their families will settle down to their ordinary occupations. There are 2 or 3 parties, however for the diggings. They are provided with tents, pickaxes, carts, shovels & etc. & are armed to the teeth. Amongst the general cargo one passenger has 1000 pounds worth of glass. The vessel is admirably ventilated, & it is stated by the government inspector, amply provisioned. She sails upon temperance principals.—Times.

'diggings' = gold rush

In the 1861 Census she gives yob as 1795 and pob as Gloucester

In 1816 there is a Roger Blake/Mary Eastmead marriage in Oxford

Re: Samuel BROWN

Thanks Emeltee.

Seems to be the only marriage on FS for a Roger Blake to a Mary.

Using mmn Eastmead did not find any deaths that fit in Vic.

I'll return to this tomorrow.
