NRY - Loftus & Lofthouse

Now I'm really confused.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loftus,_North_Yorkshire

Quote:
Loftus is a town and civil parish in North Yorkshire, England. The local council, a unitary authority, is Redcar and Cleveland. It lies in a region between Saltburn-by-the-Sea and the North York Moors. It was formerly known as Lofthouse.
Loftus is near the sea and Lofthouse is way inland.

Quote:
Guisborough is a market town and civil parish in the unitary authority of Redcar and Cleveland ...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loftho...orth_Yorkshire

Quote:
Lofthouse is a small village in Nidderdale in the Harrogate district of North Yorkshire, England about a mile south of Middlesmoor. It is the principal settlement in the civil parish of Fountains Earth.

Re: NRY - Loftus & Lofthouse

I suspect pronunciation/dialect may have something to do with that

Re: NRY - Loftus & Lofthouse

Thanks Emeltee.

I take it then both families are in the town and civil parish near the sea.

Quote:
Eccl. parish: St Leonards
is a clue.

There is also a Lofthouse in WRY.

Zetland Rd, Loftus, Saltburn-by-the-Sea TS13 4PW, UK

Ok, solved now.
