Re: Ancestry

I'm slowly working my way through all possible images for census, baptisms, marriages, burials, electoral rolls, ... by spending lots of time at the library and checking them against the transcriptions I have in my tree.

Re: Ancestry

That's down to the individual who transcribed the document. Probably sent out by Ancestry to be transcribed and probably not checked before it's published, but they know someone else will correct it.

Re: Ancestry

There seems to be no checking of the early (1930 - 1963) Australian Electoral rolls.

Left hand page heading: Commonwealth Division ... State Electorate

Right hand page heading: Commonwealth Sub-division

In many cases A... picks up the State Electorate and calls it the Commonwealth Sub-division.

Re: Ancestry

Clever people at Ancestry - get people to pay good money to subscribe, then let them correct all the errors. Something of a win, win situation for them.

Re: Ancestry

When I see new county records released, the parishes I want seem to be "coming soon" or it is for a county where I have no ancestors from like Derbyshire or Cornwall. But if Anc ever released Bucks, Durham and Sussex records I would be there for hours. FMP has Bucks but a lot of the transcripts are from BT's which just list name and date of marriage for 1754-onwards marriages whereas I want the witnesses names.

Re: Ancestry

Found more errors today at the library while saving some images for my tree.

agent = Uirvnt

You have to look at the image and not believe any transcription.

Re: Ancestry

Don't know Amanda. I think some was done in Philippines but English is one of the two official languages. High percentage of errors in the Australian rolls.
