James Bullett

Hi

I would be really grateful with some help on my Great great grandfather James Bullett

He was born in 1860 in Hessett in Suffolk to William and Sarah Bullett. I have got him on the 1871 and 1881 census. I know that he then married Susannah Osborne in 1884 and they went on to have 4 children (one of whom Joseph is my grandfather). However this is when the confusion grows - Sussanah in on the 1891 census but she is living with her brother and the first 2 children and not with James. Although according to the 1901 census she goes on to have 2 more children with James - Thomas and Basil.

I then pick James up in Brimington working in the Tin Works and apparently in 1903 he married Ellen.

So the help I need is that I can't find him on the 1901 census and I can't seem to find any divorce records but both of them went on to re-marry
Any assistance gratefully received
Thanks

Re: James Bullett

Is James with her on the 1901 census?

Maybe the last 2 kids werent Jame's kids but could be under the Bullet name. Would be interesting to see who is listed as father on Thomas and Basil's birth cert.

Re: James Bullett

Hi
In 1891 the 2 eldest children Maud and Joseph Bullett are living with Susannah's brother Edward. Living there is also a Sarah Osborn but I don't know who she is. She is described as a sister but the ages are all wrong for Sunsannah

By 1901 she is described as living with her brother Edward.

According to the family Thomas and Basil were the children of both but I think I will order the birth certificates for both.

I can't work out where James is in 1891 and also whether this Sarah is actually Susannah.

Katie

Re: James Bullett

Hi Dave

Many thanks for this. I have picked these up and James Bulletts subsequent re-marriage. I would love to find him on the 1891 census (and her if she is not the Sarah listed with her kids). Also just check to see if there are any divorce records - as if not have they both been a bit naughty!!

Thanks
Katie

Re: James Bullett

this is 1881 census for the Osbourne family. is Sarah, Clara or Clara, Sarah and a sister of Susannah

William Osborne 45
Edward Osborne 20
Susanna Osborne 14
George Osborne 12
Clara Osborne 10
Frederick Osborne 6
Albert Osborne 3

They are living next door to a Bullett family

1911 Clara is 39 so I think Sarah is really Clara

Re: James Bullett

Ah yes I think Clara and Sarah may be the same person. The Bullets they are living next door to are James' uncle and aunt - George and Eliza. Obviously how they met.

On another note should there be a death certificate issued for Basil Bullett who died in WW1 - can't seem to trace that either

Interestingly Basil joined up in 1915, but was discharged after 100 days bcause he had made a false declation of his age. His mother was listed as Susan Farman of Green Farm, Rushbrooke, Bury St Edmonds, He was a driver in the Royal Engineers (Previously a horseman on the farm. I presume Susan is Susanna re-married

Re: James Bullett

I can't find a death reg. I was wondering if it was similar to the situation in Australia where the reg are issued about 5 years after the event. I have a reg dated 1922 for one in my tree who died in 1917.

Quote:
I presume she inserted the memorial notice for her son Basil Bullett as Mrs S Firman of Rushbrook in 1923.
