Re: Alexander McRAE

The Forbes Advocate (NSW : 1911 - 1954) Fri 20 Oct 1950
Mr. Hector L. McRae
After a comparatively short ill-
ness, Mr. Hector Lachlan McRae,
aged 80, passed away at his Ferry
Street home at an early hour on
Wednesday mornling.
The deceased was a native of
Cudal and spent his early life at
Canowindra, coming to Forbes
some 38 years ago. Before his
retirement he was for 21 years an
employee of Forbes Municipal
Council. A man of straightfor-
ward and upright character, he
was, however, of a quiet and re-
tiring disposition, and though not
associating himself with public af-
fairs had a wide circle of friends.
The deceased leaves a widow
(nee Miss Bessie Collits) and
grown-up family of five sons
and seven daughters. The sons
are Messers. Athol (Marrickville),
Hector (Forbes), Alec (Belmore),
James (Botany), and Archie
(R.A.A.F., Wagga), while the
daughters are Mesdames G. Gar-
diner (Matraville), Rex Brown
Fix this text(Canowindra), R. Gunning (Da-
roobolgie, Forbes), B. Gunning
(Gunnedah), N. Nalder (Gilgan-
dra), Trundle (Canowindra), and
P. Butt (Crookwell).
Deceased is also survived by
one sister, Miss Laura McRae,
(Canowindra).
The funeral yesterday after-
noon, after a service at the church
moved to the Methodist portion
of the local cemetery, the ser-
vice at the church and grave-
side being performed by the
Rev. K. Doust. Mr. A. G. Jones
directed the obsequies.
