They should have made the given name field larger to fit more of 'Catherine Charlotte McDonald'

Just goes to prove that change is not always for the better.

Re: Alex & Jane MORT

Dave,
I was interested to see your post about the Mort family. Alexander Mort was my husbands 2nd great grandfather through his daughter Annie. I have more information on the family on my tree on Ancestry which is called Reid 2014 if you are on Ancestry. If you can't see the tree or want anymore information let me know. Which part of the Mort family are you connected to? I still have a lot of blanks but hopefully over time I can fill it in some more.
All the best,
Isobel Reid

Re: Alex & Jane MORT

Hello Isobel and to the Forum

This is on a side branch of my tree.

John MORT & Catherine Charl SANDS
Marriage: 1905 Dunfermline, Fife

"1905 2 Jan
Age: 24
Charlestown, Dunfermline, Scotland. Dunfermline Registry District 424/23 United Free Church.
Witnesses: William Dunlop and Annie Duncan Gordon Sands.
John Mort, 30, Bachelor, Ship Painter, 24 Blackburn St. Glasgow, Son of Alexander Mort Chain Maker and Jeanie Mort MS Hope.
Catherine Charlotte McDonald, 20, spinster, Lady's Companion. Charlestown. Dau of Alexander Sands, Slater. Dec. and Catherine Sands MS McDonald."

I'm a descendant of the branch of that Sands family from Torryburn that arrived in Australia in 1849.

Dave

Re: Alex & Jane MORT

Thanks for that Dave. I have John's marriage to Catherine and his death in 1918 but nothing more on the Sands family. I'm just getting back to the Mort family and going up to the Mitchell Library this week to see if I can trace what has happened to them over the last 100 years. I'm lucky as I live close enough to use the registrars genealogy centre in Glasgow which gives access to the birth, marriage and death records just like on Scotlands People but right up to the present day and it's much cheaper than buying credits.
All the best,
Isobel
