Longest gap between first and last child.

This includes half siblings. Usually the gap is longer for men who are married twice and father babies into their 60s or even older.

The longest gap between a birth of a baby for the same woman was Elizabeth Buttle had a daughter in 1956 aged 19 and a son in 1997 aged 60, a whopping 41 years.

One of my ancestors had his first child in 1818 aged 24. he had his last child in 1860 aged 66 by his 2nd wife. 42 years. So 2 people of the same (family wise) generation were born 42 years apart.

Re: Longest gap between first and last child.

I have two Aunties, one born 1898, Salford, the oldest child of the family. and the last born in 1921, Aylesbury, the youngest.

First child was 1897, but dies 8 months later.

All with same parents, and 12 children in total.

Re: Longest gap between first and last child.

I suppose if a woman gets married aged 18 and has her first baby then or at 19, she could have her last child at 45 so a 27 year gap between the oldest and youngest child.
