Lightbulb smiths of casterton vic

Im looking to see what became of my gg grandmothers siblings.

Arthur Smith b. 1880 Casterton Vic
Sarah Smith b. 1865 Casterton Vic
Julia Ann Smith b. 1866 Casterton Vic
John Smith b. 1876 Casterton Vic

Their parents are Robert Smith (1822-1899) & Rachel/Rachael Evans/Evens (different spellings).

Ive searched bdm vic with no success.

Thinking they might have gone to SA possibly

Re: smiths of casterton vic

Hi Nathaniel

You may have this, otherwise it gets the thread started...

Vic. E/R 1903
John Smith
Subdistrict: Casterton
District: Wannon

There are 3x John listed. 1x Arthur Ernest.. no Julia Ann or Sarah, but they may have married or even died.. No Rachel seen.

In 1908 there are quite a few Smiths' including a Rachel.

Re: smiths of casterton vic

Rachel is my grest x3 grandmother she died in circa 1920.

With smith being a common name its going to be a challenge.

So far ive searched vic for them without much luck

Yep, I have Rachel up to 1919...

There are at least half a page of Smiths on each census - E/R, none of the other names are obvious apart from John, but there are at least 3x possibles..

No, names are not separate, all Smiths listed together, with name of home town.. It doesn't separate them out into households..

Geoff

EDIT: From about 1919 some are listed with a street name..

Re: smiths of casterton vic

This looks like the first one that has a street for the family of one of the Johns'

Vic. E/R 1936
John Smith
Subdistrict: Casterton
District: Wannon
Occ = labourer. Bahgallah Street. With: Blanche Florence - Edward john, Car driver - Elsie - Joseph, labourer.
