James ARMITAGE

No. 190
James Armitage of the Parish Kirkheaton
Elizabeth Oxley of this Parish (Kirkburton)
Married in this Church by Banns
this 23 Day of September 1811 By me O. Lodge Curate
Both by their mark
Witnesses: John Hardcastle, Jas. Booth

I'd like a check please to see if John Hardcastle appears as a witness on many of the entries before and after this one.

Thanks,

Dave

Re: James ARMITAGE

He was a witness to Hannah Oxley's marriage and a marriage after James and Elizabeth. Three marriages on the same day.
The fourth marriage at the bottom of the page was 7th October, interestingly witnessed by a John Armitage, but no John Hardcastle.

Re: James ARMITAGE

Thanks Amanda.

This is just a small part of a larger puzzle. Trying to decide if Elizabeth and Hannah are sisters by showing John Hardcastle was a friend or somehow related to the parties and not some parish clerk or whatever who witnessed lots of marriages.

County: Yorkshire (West Riding)
Registration District: Huddersfield

James Armitage 50 Stone Mason Y
Betty 50 Y
Martha 15 Y

Several possible baptisms for James. A very common name in that part of WRY.

Not in 1851 so pob is no help.

Deaths Sep Qtr 1846
ARMITAGE James Huddersfield 22 234
ARMITAGE James Huddersfield 22 220

This one might be mine

16 Sept 1846 James Armitage age 59, Hudersfield, Almondbury, All Hallows, bur.
