On the 9th July 1827 Sarah MARSHALL married Joseph ALVEY at GEDLING NTT
Sarah was a minor and the daughter of Joseph MARSHALL (I have a copy of the licence confirming this) so should have been born prior to 1806.
I am trying to find the birth/christening of Sarah and if possible the marriage of her parents Joseph and ??
Thanks in advance.

Sarah Marshall

christening: 07 Jun 1809 Arnold, Nottingham, England
residence: Arnold, Nottingham, England
parents: Jervas Marshall, Phoebe
If it is Gedling, Nottingham, Gedling is about a mile from Arnold

Thanks Dave,
Is Jervas a 'known' alternative/variant for Joseph?

HULSE, Ann F 11 1830 Nottinghamshire

I can't find a variant to Joseph. As every other record gives Gervas or similar, I suspect that the mge cert could be wrong depending how you say Jervas, it could sound like Joseph.
I think you had to be 21 to marry without your parents permisson, Sarah would have been 18 max. If she was born 1807 (1809 was a baptism date) as the census returns say, she could have been 16 or so.

I need to review this lot.
Joseph ALVEY's younger brother; Thomas also married a COTTINGHAM (Mary) in 1830 in OXTON (all villages being close to one another).
It will take a day or so, real life getting in the way again
Thanks for all your help.
