Re: John McFARLANE

There is only one death in the NSW indexes in 1934 for a John McFarlane therefore i assume this is your fella. He went to New Zealand before coming here.

The Sydney Morning Herald (NSW : 1842 - 1954)
Saturday 16 June 1934

mr. j. Mcfarlane.

The death hos been announced of Mr. John McParlane, of Guildford, at the age of 77.
Bom at Paisley, Scotland, he went to New Zealand as a young man, and later came to Sydney. He took up residence at Guildford, where he had lived for the last 40 years. For 31 years he was an elder of the Presbyterian Church, first in the Granvllle-Gulldford charge and finally at Guildford, when that district became a separate charge. As a young man he was a member of the Scottish Rifle Regi- ment at Granville. During the war he took part in the vuiunteer worker movements to provide homes for returned soldiers. His thrct sons served at the front and one of them was killed.

The funeral tool: place at the Presbyterian Cemetery, Rookwood, where the Rev. S. Macintyre officiated. A Protestant Alliance service was conducted by P.M. Bro. E. Nicholas and Granville Municipal Council was repre- sented bv the Deputy Mayor (Alderman McGlll).

Re: John McFARLANE

Curious. Can't find his burial at Independent Rookwood site.

You have to know a trick with that site.

Re: John McFARLANE

I'm not going to attempt to find his arrival in NZ until they get the passenger lists sorted so you can search by name of person. Crazy having to know in advance the ship and the year and the port of arrival before you can search.

Again 99% complete.
