Re: McFARLANE family

Hello cp,

Ok, next question. Can you find the family or at least John's arrival in Australia?

You can't escape the COOK family just yet.

Marriage # 3868/1882 MCFARLANE JOHN COOK CLARA ANN CAMPBELLTOWN

No sign of any births in NSW to Joseph & Elizabeth.

Regards,

Dave

Re: McFARLANE family

Hi Dave

ZILCH

Trees on 'ANX' has these details, no immigration or census attached.

John McFarlane
Birth 26 October 1856 in 11 Cotton St., Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland
Death 02 June 1934 in At home, Station St., Guildford, N.S.W
Parents Joseph McFarlane & Elisabeth McMurray

Searching surname only for CHOWSLAND brings no results.

cheers
cp

Re: McFARLANE family

Hello cp,

Thanks for looking.

Is that 'ANX" for ANXIETY?

I have no idea about a remarriage.

Perhaps there is an error in the tree and his mother is actually McMURRAY.

Perhaps this is not related:

groom's name: Joseph Macfarlane
groom's birth date: 1818
groom's birthplace:
groom's age: 35
bride's name: Elizabeth Chowsland
bride's birth date: 1818
bride's birthplace:
bride's age: 35
marriage date: 28 Apr 1853
marriage place: Middle Church,Paisley,Renfrew,Scotland

The extracted birth record
26 OCT 1856 Abbey (Paisley), Renfrew, Scotland

has Elisabeth McMURRAY

Regards,

Dave

YES I've realised some people just shouldn't waste time in tracing there family tree, they just get it so wrong.

Re: McFARLANE family

Hello cp,

I can't find a birth for Margaret or Grace. I'm not too worried. I think I'm way out on a limb already.

It's really Joseph (son of James COOK & Mary A) who married Jane West SANDS I'm tracing.

So far the only St Peters Presbyterian church I can find in Sydney is one old one at North Sydney. If I can find the church where James & Mary Ann married in 1864 I might be able to find the marriage on film. RD is St George and that is one of the early parishes outside the original 4 parishes that divided the centre of early Sydney. So it has to be north (St Peters, Marrickville, Newtown) or south of Cooks River (Arncliffe, Rockdale, ...)

According to this it is Canterbury:

Dave
