Re: OLLIFFE family

The NSW Parliament site in relation to Joseph Benjamin OLLIFFE, Jnr. born 1835 - died 1930:

"Son of Joseph Benjamin, innkeeper, and Ann Osborne. Baptised at Saints Mary & Ann Shandon Roman Catholic Church, Cork, Ireland.

J B married Ann and John OLLIFFE married Ellen OSBORNE in Ireland.

Not yet proved that J B and John are brothers and that Ann and Ellen are sisters.

Arrival of both families not yet found. Before 17 May 1860 marriage of Thomas & Kate in Sydney.

Re: OLLIFFE family

Thanks Geoff.

That is a bit curious.

Ellen 1885 at Waverley - also RC ?

Other family members are at St. Jude's which is CofE.

fulltext:"John olliffe"~0 returns no hits in Trove 1840 - 1850.

Earliest for John in Trove is 16 Feb 1856 in Sydney re Election committee.

Re: OLLIFFE family

1170/1855 V18551170 43B PASFIELD WILLIAM H - OLLIFFE ELLEN - MF

10 Jan 1856 Christ Church CofE

Daughter of John & Ellen so another ref to 1856 for John.

John not in 1841 census and earliest in Trove 1856.

Looks as though the families did not arrive together. Also seems one is more strictly RC than the other.
