Re: Three missing 'Horobin/Horabin/Horrobin' births

You guys are amazing, honestly me and my family are so thankful for all the info you have found. We really had no idea.

I keep trying to find Isabella on the 1911 census, I suspect she was probably incarcerated at a mental hospital by then, since her children were in an orphanage. Does anyone have any ideas how I could find her in 1911, or why she might have disappeared?

Hi,

Iíll have a look around and see If I can find anything for Isabella. With the surname transcriptions its not making it easy. Have you tried using her initials on the 1911 census?

Re: Three missing 'Horobin/Horabin/Horrobin' births

The entry states exactly what you have typed - the only bit missing is that in the far right hand column headed "Disability" it says Lunatic. Don't know where they got Canada from as pob. It's no wonder I couldn't find her, I was looking for some one born Lancashire!

Re: Three missing 'Horobin/Horabin/Horrobin' births

Hi,

Cant think of any place that sounds like Canada in Lancashire, unless it was copied from another persons pob by mistake.

Thanks. 🙂

I think that must be her. I found an admission of an Isab Horobin to a Lunatic Asylum in 1908 called 'Prestw'h'. Looks like she was discharged for relocation in 1925. Seems like this correlates with your 1911 census findings, Juliet.
