Oh. Must have been born on the vessel. Small vessel and a long voyage with only 9 in steerage so they must have been in cabin.

Thanks Ellie.

It's a real puzzle. Two brothers death certificates so two informants.

If Joseph sen died soon after 1821 then Elizabeth could have remarried but no marriage.

Burial for Joseph listing occ as brewer or brewers lab or brewers servant ??

Re: BARNES family

Supposedly twins born 9 Jan 1839 in London - Elizabeth Jane and Mary Ellen.

No trace of either in NSW.

Oh.

1913 NSW Electoral Roll - GLEBE - TOXTETH-ROAD POLLING-PLACE
BARNES William John, 15 Avenue-road, independent means
BARNES Mary Ellen, 15 Avenue-road, domestic duties

Mary Ellen is not wife or daughter.

Daughters Mary Isabella and Olive Muriel. Wife was Janet who died in 1906.

1925 NSW Electoral Roll - West Sydney - Toxteth
BARNES William John, 15 Avenue road, no occupation

If Mary Ellen is an older sister then no death in NSW 1913 - 1925 for a Mary with parents John & Elizabeth.

Ok, that solved. It's not an older sister but a daughter-in-law.

Re: BARNES family

Any image of the 3 baptisms 12 Nov 1837 St Dunstan, Stepney that might list birth dates.

Thanks,

Dave

Re: BARNES family

Barque 'Abbotsford' arrival in April 1841 is listed in four newspapers but no names or number of children and no mention of a birth on board.

NSW baptism records do not give pob. They give abode at time of baptism.
