Thomas and Mary Blakey

Looking for a Thomas and Mary Blakey in 1841.

Thomas born approx 1816 Hutton Ambro
Mary born approx 1817 West Heslerton

Through some help i have them on the 1851 census with a 2 year old son and living with Mary's father George Gibson. but have no info on them before then and assuming with their ages they may have been together in 1841.
Thanks

gibbo

Re: Thomas and Mary Blakey

kept you busy havent i?

I wonder with Thomas and Mary been 25 they would be to young to be John's parents, maybe John is Thomas's brother. Will have a dig around with these on here and see if i can confirm its them. Seems possibly tho.

Thanks again Dave its appriecated.

Re: Thomas and Mary Blakey

Hey Dave,
check this out. I went looking for a marriage for Thomas and Mary, knowing that Mary's maiden name was Gibson [her father on the 1851 census] I found this

Marriages Mar 1838
Blakey Thomas Barker Malton 24 313
Gibson Mary Malton 24 313

Barker This family have some really weird names. Topping and then barker. Well assuming i have the right marriage of course Dont think there would be to many with the same names and marrying around the time im looking at. Anyway some more checking to do now
Thanks for all your help.

Re: Thomas and Mary Blakey

Hi Gibbo,

Sometimes these 'wierd' names are the maiden names of the mother, but not in all cases.
You also mentioned that could they be too young to be parents of John. Most times the ages were 'rounded' up, as well as down in 1841 census returns. Also the same in later census, but not so severe. Use ages on most census as a guide only,
But again, thats not to say they are not spot on.

So Parents could be older, and John could be younger. So all things are possible.

Steve.
