Re: Monica hall

Just looked at Monica Hall's bapts, says John was a Labourer. Have Father down as dying 1839 Hull. My connection is Cicely Salvidge.

Yes I have Thomas Harker on my tree

Re: Monica hall

Sorry, I don't.

I wonder if William Pattison was a Seaman too? He seems to have left Monica fairly comfortably off. I didn't realise Henry F. Hall had married. I wonder what father's details he gave, if any, and why they married down there when they were both living in Hull?

Re: Monica hall

I had the wrong death for Thomas Harker. Father Thomas Harker 1741-1839

Found a Nancy Harker buried 1815 Marton ,and I know it is a variant of Ann, but can't confirm.

Re: Monica hall

Thanks Ellie.

Checked out the 1839 Hull death you mentioned for John Hall and his age was 88, so maybe too old to be Monica's husband?

Will keep my eye on the thread in case you come up with anything else on the Pattison/Hall's.

Re: Monica hall

John Hall must have been RC as was Monica Salvidge, as issue were bapts. RC There are other marriages where siblings married C of E and issue were C of E.

Re: Monica hall

Martha Salvidge ,Monica's sister has a John Hall as a witness at her marr.27 Apr 1790. Perhaps that is Monica's husband to be.
John Hall's Father was also called John Hall.

Re: Monica hall

Ah I see what you meant regarding that 1839 death now.

Good spot. A John Hall was also a witness at another sister, Millesaint's wedding in 1794, the signatures on both look the same as on the marriage to Monica. Seems like he was known to the family.

Maybe he was a tad older than Monica? If he was the same age, born 1775, he would only have been 15 or so when a witness at Martha's wedding in 1790. It's such a common name and we know so little about him, no age at death to work back from etc, I'm not sure how we can tell which John Hall he might be? There are a number baptised in Hull and also a couple in Leven and Welwick, which aren't too far away, in 1768. They're all C of E but you also mentioned the possibility that he was Catholic too, which he could have been.

Re: Monica hall

Martha's husband was from Leven. Will have to look the other sister's marriages. Only witness at those 2.

Edit-Well I always had Bishop's Transcript, but have found another the Swine Marriage, and it says John Hall of this parish and Monica Salvidge of the same.
