Re: TURNER family

Curious. The shipping record seems to be in error with name and sex and place of birth:

Births Jun Qtr 1849
TURNER Frances Alice St Pancras 1 356

A death in Victoria in 1869 with father = Samuel and mother = Eliza Price

Re: TURNER family

Dave

I suspect that the record I have seen some years ago is a Port Phillip arrival - perhaps the ship went from Sydney to Melbourne (altho' I would have thought they would go the other way). I suspect it is just another record.

I had a quick squiz and ancestry.com and it is probably one of these
"Assisted migrant on PROV Victoria. Inward Overseas Passenger Lists (British Ports). Microfiche VPRS 7666, copy of VRPS 947. Public Record Office Victoria, North Melbourne, Victoria.
Victoria. Register of Assisted Immigrants from the United Kingdom. Microfiche VPRS 14. Public Record Office Victoria, North Melbourne, Victoria"

I'll have a look next time in Melbourne.

Do you need the Turner/Price marriage document? Can see an attachment option now.

Steve

Re: TURNER family

Ok thanks Steve. That clears up Frances.

NSW State Records has images of vessels that arrived at ports in what later became Queensland and Victoria.

As it appears in the NSW Index:

TURNER Samuel - 'Derwent' 1850 Port Phillip and Eliza and family Reel 2145, [4/4817] Page 79

PROV also has a record. Sometimes the details vary.

PROV Index - Assisted to Victoria:

TURNER SAMUEL Age 28 - FEB 1850 DERWENT Book 5 Page 64

I have sent a PM re marriage.

Dave
