Re: William Hunter/Ann Burns m Wooloomooloo

Thanks both, don't know anything further about John Hunter and Sarah Mckie apart from he was a farmer. But he may well have stayed in Ireland. And Irish records are difficult especially if not Catholic. Will see if I can find any siblings for William in any records or the name still in Co Cavan. I agree it looks like Carlow.

I can't read the bit where it is ditto to the one above - brother in ?

Barbara
And it is snowing yet again.

Re: William Hunter/Ann Burns m Wooloomooloo

The 'brother in ... ' bit is on the second reel Barbara.

Don't know if the image you've seen is an exact copy of the image on the second reel or not.

Post that bit and we may not have to wait until Wednesday.

Dave

Re: William Hunter/Ann Burns m Wooloomooloo

Found a Huston Burns in Bailieborough, Cavan born 1890 on Roots ireland to John and Margaret (Madden) but seems to be an unusual name so maybe where the Burns came from. Also known as Corglass

Re: William Hunter/Ann Burns m Wooloomooloo

"Am searching for the parents of my ancestor Huston Burns.

I believe he was born in the Castletown area abt 1800, and married Elizabeth Liscoe abt 1825 in the Diocese of Meath.

Some of their children's names were James, Huston (b1825), William, John and Jane (b1829). On Jane's marriage cert 1853, we have Rev William Burns of Wexford, who I believe was her brother."

Found on another forum. 10 years ago.

Same names but dates don't work.

Can't tell what the place is Barbara. I'll save an image on Wednesday and hope I can read it.

Re: William Hunter/Ann Burns m Wooloomooloo

I now have an image of the shipping record and I can't work out the name of the place where William's brother was living.

Do we even know what state he was in?

Most of the image with right cut off. It's not much better but with it on my computer I can zoom in.
