1/7th Black Watch

Hi. I'm currently researching my grandad's war experience.

He joined the 1/7th (Fife) Battalion, Black Watch, 191 and in due course was sent to France, with his unit coming under the heading of the 51st Highland Division.

On 21/03/1918, he was caught up in the Spring Offensive and was captured near Beugny in France. I have been able to find records held by the Red Cross Commission which indicate he was sent to Parchim camp in eastern Germany, though he may have passed through Friedrichsfeld at some point too.

He was not wounded at the time of capture, and survived imprisonment; indeed, he lived on until 1966.

If anyone is researching along similar lines, I would be happy to share information. Just reply to this.
