Hello jen2,
I have researched the family of Thomas Brotherick b. 1850 NBL, and confirm the posts of emeltee, Bootzy, and most of Geoff's too. Can confirm that Thomas Brotherick (became Broderick in NZ) did m. Margaret Hain not Callanan. I don't know why his headstone has Edward as a second name; maybe the person responsible confused names with his father? I haven't found any immigration records either. The family "story" was that he jumped ship, but nothing found on that possibility either.
