Introduction

Hi All! My name is Barb. I am from Ontario, Canada and I have been intrested in genealogy since 2000.
I really enjoy the challenges and that amazing feeling I get when I am able to make a connection while working on my family history.
It all started with trying to find a little more information on my paternal grandfather's side. Now it has turned into a full blown obsession into my family history as well as my husband's.

Barb

Re: Introduction

Hi Barb and to the F.H.U.K research forums,
We hope you have success in your research and please do not hesitate in asking us for help, all you need to do is select the appropriate forum, and post your question/s, with as much relevant information that you have in your possession, then our members will endeavour to find, or at least point you in the right direction of those answers. If at all possible do not ask multiple off topic questions in the same forum for example , don't ask for a birth and death in the census forum , or ask for a census lookup for 1901 in the census lookup 1911 forum etc if you do this it will help us to help you to find your answers
You will find all our members helpful and very friendly and only to willing to help.
Best regards Sterico

Re: Introduction

Barb, I just noticed you have Phillips there. I have a family of Phillips from Niagara falls Lincoln, Ontario (second cousin twice removed) and another from Thorold(sp?). They mainly come from Berkshire but one went over the pond.

Re: Introduction

Sparklingtechie, The Phillips in both my and my husband's family did not immigrate to Canada. I haven't researched them very much, only a couple generations back since from the branch off in the early 1800's. It's something I've just been delving into recently.
My husband's line is from Herefordshire, but later moved to Wales and my line is from Middlesex.
I'm not that far from Thorold.

Re: Introduction

Hello all,
just joined,
I am an archaeologist and historian with a specialist interest in military history and associated links with social history. Based near Swindon.
I have been researching a particular aspect of WWI and using genealogy to search descendants of members of a small battle in 1917.
