Re: Newberys 1800's Hampton Court england

The Argus (Melbourne, Vic. : 1848-1954) - Saturday 2 August 1941 p.4
DEATHS
CLARK.-On August 1, at a private hospital, William, dearly loved husband of Mary Clark, 33 Bridge street, Northcote, loving father of Violet (Mrs. J. Shand, deceased), William, Rubie (Mrs. J. A. Thomson), Oswald (deceased) and Amelia (Mrs. L. Newbery). In his 80th year. At rest.

... grandfather of ... Eric and Ron Newbery ...

Two sons Eric and Ron - looks as though both are married. Mother Amelia died in 1957 so who is the third female? Marriages and births are 25 years off the Qld. index. Must be a daughter born before 1951.

1972 QLD Electoral Roll - Maranoa - Miles
NEWBERY Eric William, Dulacca, farmer
NEWBERY Margaret Jean, Avon Lea, Dulacca, h d
NEWBERY Phyllis Dawn, Dulacca, h d
NEWBERY Ronald Leslie, Alberton, Dulacca, farmer
NEWBERY Maree Lesley, Short St, Dulacca, service stn attdt

Unless there are 2x Leslie

Leslie Arthur Newbery
Electoral Year: 1913 & 1919 [No Eric, but there is a Stanley Buchanan, Kowguran]
Subdistrict: Miles
State: Queensland
District: Maranoa
[With a Mary. 14-Mile Creek, Miles. Grazier]

There's also an Eric James and a James Waters living at Clovelly, Miles

1925
Same details as 1919 for Leslie and Mary.

However [1925]:
There is an Amelia Newbery, Kowguran, hd. Possibly with a Vera Ellen Newbery, hd.

Re: Newberys 1800's Hampton Court england

Stanley Buchanan and Eric James are brothers of Leslie Arthur. Vera Ellen is a sister. Their parents are James Waters and Mary Ellen.

Amelia seems to be living with Stanley and Vera and not with Leslie 1925 - 1934. Together in 1936.

1936 & 1943 QLD Electoral Roll - Maranoa - Miles
NEWBERY Leslie Arthur, Alberton, Dulacca, grazier
NEWBERY Amelia, Alberton, Dulacca, home duties

Marriages in Vic. up to what date? Amelia is a NEWBERY by late 1925 - 2nd print of the roll.

1919 VIC Electoral Roll - Bourke - Northcote
CLARK William, 58 Charles st., Northcote, carpenter
CLARK Mary Sydney, 58 Charles st., Northcote, home duties
CLARK Amelia, 58 Charles st., Northcote, dressmaker
CLARK William John, 44 Emmaline st., Northcote, carpenter

Amelia at a different address, unless they have a 'work' and 'home' address...

Why would he go to Miles. He was born in NSW.

Dunno Geoff. One tree had the marriage in Vic. in 1923.

Enlisted Miles, Qld. 9 May 1916 - S/N 2134 42nd Bn - NOK mother Newbery Mary living at 'Clovelly' Kowguran via Miles, Qld. - Embarked Brisbane, Qld. HMAT A46 'Clan McGillivray' 7 Sep 1916 - Served in France - Wounded 1917 - Returned to Australia 20 Feb 1919 - Discharged 9 Apr 1919 1st MD.

During the Second World War, the 1st Military District covered all of Queensland.

So he was not discharged in Vic. No idea how they would have met. Her parents married and lived in Vic.

Yes, It's not clear from the addresses in the rolls for the very rural areas what are households and who is in each.
