I am trying to find out where Henry Alfred PAGE, a driver in the 39th Brigade RFA, may have been treated for an injury in the Sheffield area. He was originally from London but ended up marrying and raising a family in Sheffield.
Not sure if this kind of information is available but any help would be appriciated.
Thanks
JJ
A very large number of small military hospitals were established during the wars in large country houses all around the area (like Downtown Abbey). finding it will definitely require some dates

Hi , I would like to try and help you with this. Do you have his date of birth or death so we can establish where and when he was born? without that it is going to be a long labourious search
You need to look through military records ( there are over 500 to search) looking for an Alfred Page with a record showing him to be a driver in 59th Brigade RFA, a marriage in about 1915 and medical treatment in the sheffield Area. Narrowing the search by having his birthday would help considerably.
Unfortunately these records are incomplete and dmaged by fire ( known as the burnt records) so there is no certainty you will find them.
If you are a direct descendant or you know who is you could apply for his medial records at a cost to see if they can help. These searches can take several months to get a record sent to you
Good luck with the search

I have gone on Ancestry site and there is a whole host of things regarding Henry Alfred Page including death certificate and marriage certificate etc. Have you got access to their site?
I can't obviously send you these things as that would be breach of copywrite, but I can summarize.
Henry Alfred Page born 1st August 1894 St. Pancras London. He would appear to have been born in the Workhouse.
Married Nov 17th 1915 to Edith May Greaves (occupation scissor dresser) at Wesleyan Chapel Thirwell? Road Sheffield. Both have same address which is Heeley. Presume that is because Henry didn't have a fixed address in Sheffield at that time. 62 Boynton Street Heeley.
I am still trying to trace Henry Albert Page's medical records from the military hospital. I understand the Sheffield Archives has some of the medical records for some of the military hospitals in the area. May well be worth contacting them for advice.
There is the Ranmore Military Hospital Sheffield, the Wharncliffe War Hospital which was formerly the west riding Yorkshire assylum at Wadsley Sheffield, and the 3rd Northern General. finally Winter St Hospital was a military TB and isolation hospital

Thank you all.
Duckweed you have the right Henry. He joined the Army 20 April 1912, transferred to reserve in 1919 and finished service in 1932. I have most of the documentation. Henry did die 04 Dec 1971 in Sheffield, living most of his life in the Helley area.
The family story, my wife's, has Henry and Edith meeting during his recovery. He married Edith who already had a child.
I will look into the Hospitals Dochines has named.
ALways looking.
Thanks
JJ
There is a Heeley Historical Society that may be worth contacting though I have found contacting them via their website doesn't work very well but I know someone who meets with them regularily if you wan't any specific Heeley info.
Other organisation is Sheffield Indexers who have access to a host of local information.
