I dont know Barbara... he and Alice should of been a similar age?

Everyone who has offered me help and done soooo much searching....we all come back to this same family....who coincedentally lived in a now demolished farm house (tied cottage) about 500yard where i now live!!!

Dave. in when she was 13, i found Alice at the Bulls Head in Delph. I believe the landlady mrs Emma Shaw was an aunt.

1901 aged 23 with sister Elizabeth 18 servants (coachman) in Lancashire
1911 aged 45 married to Sarah

Everything ties in except 1911 age. For whatever reason i think this is wrong and you have the right family

LOL Dave.....i have that one saved too! I like that one....the chap who is head of the house is staying in Rhyl non his holidays on the previous census
so there is a Rhyl connection.

I also found a William Roberts aged 25 from Rhee (Rhll)...got to be Rhyl on same census at Prescott workhouse in Whiston!

everythings ties except for 1911 age....and 1905 age when he married Alice.

And...he has another wife to find yet!!!

Are you sure he had already been married before he married Alice.
He was single in 1901, with Elizabeth his sister in Stockport. There are two records on Family search, identical except the first dated 13 Aug 1905 where he was Single and then dated 14 Aug 1905 where he was widowed.

The copy of the document i have says he is widowed, but i've seen both and know the other says single! Nowt surprises me with this ole devil!! made me laugh his profession is a groom.......perhaps a serial groom!!! LOL

despite lots of help and advice from some wonderful peeps, i still havent come up with an more fitting alternative to my William Thomas.

I'm still not sure about his age. It does seem if he is the person in the family we all keep coming back to....it unlikely he was married before 1905 when he married Alice. But, if he were born in about 1865 as some records suggest then at 40 years old its very probable he was married before...even more than once!!

of course.....he could of lived absolutely anywhere and i have found many William Thomas Roberts across the country who were born in Rhyl/Flintshire. The family story is he worked with horses, he certainly did at a later date.

Where on earth can i look for clues??
