DRUMMOND family from Scotland

Thanks so much for all of your replies.

I'm very confused. I'll have to try and speak to my mother and see if she knows a bit more about when the Drummonds came down from Scotland.
It was my grandparents that originally told me about them but unfortunately they are no longer with us so can't find out much more

Often I have found family stories are a generation out so it may be that James came from Scotland but not Willliam. There is one James Drummond born in Callander but this is 1764 and his parents are John Drummond and Anne Wood. I was hoping the Hope would help by being his mother's maiden name but nothing came up in a search done on this.
