Griffiths in Prussia

I didn't know which category to place this in.

On the 1901 census in Esh, Durham it states that Moses Griffiths was born in Prussia Germany in 1859 and was a British subject by parentage. Does anyone know what was going on in Prussia and why did he move back to Durham and he had around 10 children to Emma who was born in Portsmouth.
Thanks!!

Hi

Interesting that in the 1881 and 1901 censuses it says Emma b. London. 1891 she says Portsmouth.

I may have followed the wrong Moses back to parents John and Violet, but Moses and siblings all appear to have been b. Yorks. & Durham.

Also noticeable is a John and Violetta among Moses & Emma's offspring

I haven't worked out Emma yet... there are possibilities in London and Hampshire.

Hmmm....

In 1871 it says Moses b. Prussia, then 1881 and 1891 b. Durham

The 1871 image clearly says Prussia for Moses...

Re: Griffiths in Prussia

The only births I can see for a Moses are 1858 Wolverhampton 6b, 434 and 1860 Griffith, Festiniog 11b, 446.

I'll see if there are military records for his father around that time...
