Francis was born 1755, Scotland - d. 1813 Welland, On., Canada. On a map I brought up of Scotland it looks like he was born in Bridge of Gaur, near Loch Rannoch, I may also be talking about Kilmadock, Perth. It is believed he was married twice, once in Scotland & once here in On. Canada. It is his marriage in Scotland I am interested in.

The maiden name of his 1st wife was Foss/Fuss/Friss, & her fathers 1st name was Philip. The children of Francis & this woman were - 1. Catherine,
2. Elizabeth, 3. Francis ( M ), 4. Margaret, 5. Mary, 6. Peter, & a possible
7th. Daniel b. 1798 Scotland - d. 1859 Welland, On., Canada.

While searching Francis I found this information, CHILD, McKay b. 09 Feb
1755, father Finlay McKay, mother Juncan ? I am adding this information only because the last name is right as well as the birth date for Francis. It is only a hunch & a long shot at the same time!!!!!!!!!

Any help finding parents for Francis, his 1st wife's parents & herself, & dates for all children listed, WOULD BE DEEPLY APPRECIATED & THANKED OVER & OVER!!!!!!!!

Yours Truly

In researching my family tree I have now traced it back as far as a James Kirk b.1733.
I am now trying to trace his parents, which I think might be around the Durisdeer area of Dumfries.
In looking up the names of either James or John Kirk around this period, I seem to have many hits of a James Kirko, the famous Covenanter.
His parents were John and Agnes Kirko.
A million to one that I am related to him, but there again somebody is.
It would be nice to establish some further facts and details about him.
James Kirko was served heir to his father John in 1647, laird of Sundaywell, Dunscore.
On one occasion he asked John Osbtirn to bring his youngest son to see him, so by inference he had at least two.
On 13th May 1685 he was shot on the sands of Dumfries.
When was he born, did he marry, where any of his children christened or baptised?

Hi

I am looking for relatives of my father Ronald Edward Love. His father was Hector MacDonald Love (born 1911), grandfather John Boris Love (born 1867) and Great grandfather Thomas B. (born Scotland 1829).

I have been told we are affiliated with Clan McKinnon somewhere along the line but don't know where. As my grandfather has the middle name MacDonald I assume there is a connection there too, following tradition of carrying on a Clan name.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks to Dave L I now have info going back to Thomas and his wife Eleanor (Marion), from Berwick on Tweed 1834.

Hi there!

This is my first post at the forum and I do hope that someone will be able to help me on the way a bit, because I'm rather stuck at the moment.

I'm trying to find out more about the provost of Forfar Alexander Strang and his background. He was loyal to Charles I and spoke against turning the King over to English during the Civil War in the Scottish Parliament. I know that he had two sons that became merchants in Stockholm. The Strangs in Sweden sent a gift to their native town, a church bell, that remain in the church today. I've got pictures of the bell and the coat of arms that is on the same... if that would help?

Does anyone on this forum know anything concerning Alexander Strang or his familys origin?.. or are able to come up with an idea on where to find out more... if possible?

Hope I make myself understood... since english isn't my native tongue. :)

Abigail Clelland married David Clark in 1831. Kilmarnock, Parish of Monkton.

David Clark dies in 1864, Kilmarnock.

Abigail is still alive in 1871 in Kilmarnock, but has reverted back to maiden name of Clelland.
Her grandson, David Clark (1853. Kilmarnock), is with her, but down as son.

On David Clarkes death cert, Abigails maiden name appears as McMillan(that's if I'm reading it right).

No death found for Abigail Clark/Clelland or McMillan.:(
Any ideas folks, for why Abigail has a different name on death cert.
