could you help? looking for john hulme born 1834-40 wife theresa, hanley staffs (on the 1871 census john was a potter) thank you.

Hi Cherel 1

Putting in John Hulme birth year 1845 with 5yrs either side brings up nine neither has pob as Hanley.

Out of the the nine about 5 of the Johns are potters. I would get one of the childrens birth certificates which will give Theresa's maiden name and this will enable you to will to trace their marriage, John and Theresa's Marriage certificate will give the fathers name and occupation.

yes - thanks - i have got theresa,s maid name as simpson, but as you say need cert i think as they never wed until 1862, but thanks a lot, regards c.

hi! its me again, just to say have just found johns father - its henry hulme, but thats all i have - if perhaps you could do a look up for me on henry (staffs) also as i said john should be on it as he never wed until 1862, if cant get thats ok! c.

This was the only one with father Henry.

John son age 20 occ app writing clerk born Etruria

Martha Griffiths widow sister in law age 53 occ dressmaker born Etruria

In 1851 the occupations are pottery

There are another 2 John Hulmes in 1851 father Henry one born 1848 born Fenton fathers occ potter painter. Will discount the other as he was born 1822.
