Thompson Rachel Parents

Hello Everyone

We have a Rachel Thompson who married a Harry Fisher in 1907 at Darfield Parish Church -the problem being on marriage certificate it states her father is Joseph Thompson, we thought it was Cornelius?

Our Rachel had Harold Thompson out of wedlock who was brought up by his grandparents Edith and Cornelius (info from another relative) or Joseph? Rachel also had Alice Ann in 1908 after her marriage to Harry Fisher, what is the best way to resolve the conflicting evidence. Have we got the wrong Rachel in our marriage cert of the wrong father from the census? We think our Rachel is the right one but would like to be as sure as possible.

Suggestions please?

Post Rachels details age, area and will check on the census. It could a transcription error from the parish register to the marriage certificate.

Edith wife age 40 born New Hall
Walter son age 18 occ collery pony ----- below born Darfield
Rachel dau age 12 born Darfield
Edith dau age 9 born Darfield
Elizabeth dau age 6 born Darfield
Rosie dau age 3 born Darfield

1891 census, civiln parish Darfield-address Hope Street

Cornelius Thompson head age 33 occ coal miner born Sheffield
Edith wife age 30 born New Hill
Walter son age 7 born Low Valley
Jane dau age 5 born Low Valley
Rachel dau age 2 born Low Valley

The ages seem to fit place of birth and occupation for Cornelius and Joseph
seems like the same person could be tranascription error from the enumerators
book. Jane is the only one not with them on the 1901 census.

Its looks as though Jane age 17 born Darfield is working as a general domestic servant in 1901 in the civil parish of Darfield address not very clear ------inn.
