I am new to this web site and I am looking for information on the first wife of my Great Grandfather Thomas Langsford b: 1818 Alphington, Devon, England d:1887 Plymouth, Devonshire, England. I am also looking to document his father/Mother which I believe to be John Langsford born in late 1700's.

I believe his first wife's name is Mary Ann Ware b:1821 d:1897. I think she had 5 children with Thomas if my information is correct they were: Thomas 1847, Mary J 1848, Joseph 1849, John (Juno) 1850 and Sarah Ann 1851.

Thomas later married my grandmother Ann Lock on 12 May 1845 and had 6 or 7children by her. I do have that information documented and confirmed on his marriage to Ann.

I appreciate any help you can give!

Can you please confirm your dates are correct. Unless I have it wrong Thomas was having children with his first wife after he was married to Ann Lock

Hi
You are correct! I did not realize the dates are wrong for Mary Ann Ware to be married to Thomas. I will investigate further and get back with you when I can find the letter with this information I transcribed. Sorry for the inconvenience.

the children you name are with his 2nd wife Anne, born 1821 Sicklade Glous. who Tom married in 1845. can't find Sicklade on the map, but presume it's near Bristol as her first two children were born there According to 1861 census they also had Elizabeth 1852(twin to Sarah?), Emily 1857, Fanny 1859 and William H 1860

On 1841 census Thomas 25 is with Mary 20. They do not have children with them, so it seems unlikely they had more than a couple before Tom married Ann in 1845, if they had any at all

On 1841 census Thomas is living next door to what could be his brother William 30 and his wife Jane 25 and children Elizabeth 6, Wm 4, Mary 2, and Maria 6m

We know from Thomas's birth details, his parents were John and Dinah. I wonder if this is them. I have known of Sarah being translated as Dinah before. The address is right, would make john about 29 when Thomas was born and he is a carpenter, the same as Thomas

EDIT - found before I found 1841 census (see next post). Is Sarah a 2nd wife
EDIT 2 - I now believe Sarah is Dinah as Dinah was married (see later post) at Kenton, Sarah's birthplace
